Tutus and Tiaras Dance Camp for Ages 3-7 & Summer Classes

Dates & Ages: Do you have a Princess dancing around your house? Well, AYB –Sewanee Dance Conservatory will be conducting a summer dance camp entitled Tutus and Tiaras from June 8 through June 12^th and July 20-24. Tutus and Tiaras is the perfect introduction to dance, for ages 3 through 7. The first week June 8-12 will be for 5-7 year olds and will run from 9:30a.m. to 11:45a.m. The second week July 20-24 for 3-5 year olds and will run from 9:30a.m. to 11:30a.m. Your child will take age appropriate ballet and creative movement classes and make ballet oriented crafts to take home. They will also learn how dancers tell a story through movement, such as the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker and Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty and how Cinderella meets the Prince. The week will culminate with a showing of their work to their parents. Students must bring their own snack each day.

Instructors: The June course will be taught by Nicole Onuszkanycz who has taught for many schools and companies throughout the Tennessee Valley region. The July Camp will be taught by Sewanee’s newest resident dance instructor Ashley Brooke McManamay who has been instructing children in dance since 1999 in Virginia. Most recently she has been a Dancer and Dance Captain for Holland America Cruise Line on 5 different ships. Ashley will also teach a week of Intermediate classes during the same week. On Monday and Wednesday the class will be from 1:00-2:15 and on Tuesday it will be Tap 1-2 and Jazz/Musical Theater on Thursday 1-2 and Contemporary Dance on Friday from 1-2:15.

Hip Hop, Dates, Ages: The Dance Conservatory will also be holding a Hip-Hop Dance Class on Wednesdays starting on June 3 for four weeks; 3:30-4:30 for ages 8-12 and 4:30-5:30 for ages 13 and older. These class will be taught by Fridien Tchoukoua who taught for the Conservatory last year.

AYB-Sewanee Dance Conservatory will hold these classes in the dance studio at the Fowler Center on the University of the South campus on Texas Avenue.
